The Clown Loach (Chromobotia macracanthus) is a wonderful, freshwater fish, that exists well, in a slightly larger, aquarium. Clown Loaches can be found a some chain pet stores, but not all. They need a moderate/large tank to be able to survive, due to their alarming size of up to 18 inches. Th Clown Loach, originating form India, is a labyrinth fish.
Size: 18 inches
Tank requirements: 55 gallons
Temperature: 75-86 degrees Fahrenheit
Rarity: Uncommon, not found at most pet stores
Fish Conflict: Clown loaches are commonly known to be snail-eaters, though this is not true. Clown loachees are filed as semi-aggressive, but this is not due to their aggressiveness, but because of their size, and ability to eat smaller fish. They are more predator than prey, and will not commonly be nipped or eaten. They do have the potential to eat smaller fish, but are generally peaceful.
Overall, the clown loach makes a great pet, and a colorful addition to your aquariam!!
